Electromagnetic Theory Vol. 3 book. Here in three volumes are his collected writings on electromagnetic theory-Volume Englishman OLIVER HEAVISIDE (1850-1925) left school at 16 to teach himself electrical engineering, eventually becoming a renowned mathematician and one of the world's premiere authorities on electromagnetic theory and its applications for communication, including the telegraph and telephone. Here in three volumes are his collected writings on electromagnetic theory-Volume III was first published in 1912.

Oliver Heaviside is probably best known to the majority of mathematicians for the Heaviside function in the theory of distribution. Results of this work are presented in his fundamental three-volume ""Electromagnetic Theory"". The book brings together many of Heaviside's published and unpublished notes and short articles written between 1891 and 1912. One of Heaviside's main achievements was the recasting of Maxwell's theory of electromagnetism into the form currently used by everyone.

Published in 1912, this is the last of three volumes summarising Heaviside's enormous contribution to electromagnetic theory.

Oliver Heaviside FRS (1850–1925) was a scientific maverick and a gifted self-taught electrical engineer, physicist and mathematician. He patented the co-axial cable, pioneered the use of complex numbers for circuit analysis, and reworked Maxwell's field equations into the more concise format we use today. Published in 1912, this is the last of three volumes summarising Heaviside's enormous contribution to electromagnetic theory.

Electromagnetic theory. By. Oliver heaviside, n. Volume. Having thus gone briefly through the book, it is desirable to say a few words regarding the outline sketch of electromagnetics in the second chapter. Two diverse opinions have been expressed about it. On the one hand, it has been said to be too complicated.

Oliver Heaviside continued active scientific work for more than twenty years after the publication of the third volume of his Electromagnetic Theory. Издание: 3. Язык: english.

Englishman OLIVER HEAVISIDE (1850-1925) left school at 16 to teach himself electrical engineering, eventually becoming a renowned mathematician and one of the world's premiere authorities on electromagnetic theory and its applications for communication, including the telegraph and telephone. Here in three volumes are his collected writings on electromagnetic theory-Volume III was first published in 1912. This is a catalog of the bulk of his postulations, theorems, proofs, and common problems (and solutions) in electromagnetism, many of which had been published in article form. Part scientific history-including references to some contemporary criticisms, long since shown to be poorly based, of Heaviside's scholarship-and part guide to understanding a complex applied science, this work shows both the genius and the eccentricity of a man whose work includes precursory theories to Einstein, and revolutionary principles that today are the commonly assumed truths in the field of electrical engineering.
  • The reading and studying of this book is made almost useless because it lacks the necessary mathematics where it should have been printed. I am nor sure why this happened, and if this was just the case with the copies I received. But as it stands, these texts are almost useless, and I recommend not buying them because of this fact. It is too bad.

  • Heaviside...The man who made all of Maxwell's equations work and broke them down into simple algebra. It broke the code for everyone else who doesn't have advanced degree's. All of these books are incredible.

  • As advertised and in good overall condition for a repaint.
Also it was a good delivery time; with the package coming all at once and from half way across the world.

  • A must have...
