How to Find, Cultivate, and Sustain Hope in an Age of Anxiety

The Power of Hope provides a wealth of tools for addressing the inevitable challenges of the human condition: fear, loss, illness, and death. Drawing on their personal journeys of overcoming hopelessness, Anthony Scioli, Ph.D., and Henry Biller, Ph.D., also answer these questions:

How do you build and sustain hope in trying times? How will hope help you achieve your life goals? How will hope improve your relationships with others? How can hope aid in recovery from trauma or illness? How will hope strengthen your spirituality?

Understanding, cultivating, and sustaining the power of hope will allow you to realize a greater sense of purpose in life, boost your health and healing potential, strengthen your relationships, and increase your spiritual intelligence. The Power of Hope will keep you from being mired in a perpetual cycle of doom that permeates when the tools of hope are missing.

  • In this era of diminishing hope -- what the authors refer to as as a global hope shortage -- many people need help in finding, using, and maintaining hope. In this important work, Scioli and Biller, both psychologists and hope experts, provide not just a basic philosophy of hope, but include tools to enhance hope and strategies for preventing or reversing hopelessness. As a result, this book is a wonderful resource that will help individuals who are struggling with adversity, loss, or fear.

Equally important, though, is the potential "The Power of Hope" has for those health care professionals who look at hope only as it relates to therapy and miss the opportunity to use hope as a clinical tool and as an educational strategy for their patients. In addition, health care providers from many disciplines will find this book helps them maintain professional hope when practicing in challenging and high loss work settings. it should be a "must read" in clinical training programs.

  • I liked this book enough to purchase a second book from this author. This is too confined a space to speak of the intersect point of theology, spirituality, esthetics, neurobiology and wellness of a centered life ... but the EMPHASIZED WORD 'HOPE' give you a clue.

If your life has brought you to this moment in time and you are reading this message ... you will not be disappointed with your purchase of this book.

  • While there were some rambling autobiographical sections that I didn't respond to, overall, the topic of hope is well-defined and thought provoking, spurring problem solving energy where it might be lacking in your life. Would recommend.
