The Second Labour Government was the shortest-lasting of all New Zealand governments to that day; in contrast . In the Balance: Election '72. Dunedin: John McIndoe. Edwards, Brian, ed. (1973). Right Out: Labour Victory ’72. Reed.

The Second Labour Government was the shortest-lasting of all New Zealand governments to that day; in contrast, the Second National Government, led for the majority of its tenure by Keith Holyoake, would be re-elected three times. National's policies were focused around stability and a "steady as she goes" approach, but Holyoake's Government was increasingly perceived as tired and worn-out. In February 1972, Holyoake stood aside and was replaced by his deputy, Jack Marshall, who took steps to reinvigorate the party.

The Voice Inside is the second in series that centres around Frost Easton, though I didn’t find it any less as a standalone. One cop’s lie has set a killer free  . One cop's lie put him there. Frost Eaton's sister was killed by this evil person, but he had to testify about the planted evidence. The story does use the previous book’s plot as a pusher but that doesn’t stop it from exploring it’s own story. Years ago, Frost’s sister, Katie, had been killed by a serial killer who was later imprisoned for his crimes.

Their story of the . The result is a book full of surprises. negotiations is interwoven with a gripping chronicle of the war years, complete with palace shootouts in Kabul, turf warfare between rival Soviet intelligence agencies, and the CIA role in building up Islamic fundamentalist guerrilla leaders at the expense of Afghan moderates. Cordovez opens up his diaries to take us behind the scenes in his negotiations, and Harrison draws on interviews with Mikhail Gorbachev, former Secretary of State George Shultz, and other key actors.

After Labour eradicated the Conservatives’ majority at the 2017 general election, Blair was forced to admit that Corbyn could indeed become prime minister. Jeremy Corbyn’s rise to the leadership is often portrayed as the political equivalent of an X Factor victory: a shock, a sensation. He eventually finished third out of six candidates, behind Harriet Harman and Alan Johnson, but notably led in the first round. The desire for alternatives to Blairism had been demonstrated. The left was also heartened by Ed Miliband’s victory over David, the anointed heir of New Labour. The younger Miliband won by . per cent.
