Throughout the book, Foster challenges the common dichotomies of global/local, ogenization, and ion. He questions the supposed polarity between strong and weak globalization. For Foster, globalization and commodities must be viewed in such a way as to highlight the agency of consumers, but with the caveat that material and social conditions are not entirely under the agent’s control.
