Rare book
  • This is one of the best books on prison life I've read. Gary is brilliant, and really tells it like it is. I've been working in prisons and jails for many years both as an RN and Psychotherapist and have experienced much of what is talked about in the book. Gary talks about the creativity, collective brain power that goes into the web of manipulation that the inmates weave. Their ploys being passed on from inmate to inmate , prison to prison, jail to jail. It seems that many of their works are brilliant in a sick conniving way. This book gives examples of many sinister, baleful, menacing, ways staff (corrections and civilians) can be brought to tears, fired, forced into colluding with them, and amazingly enough to end up in prison right alone with them. GAME ON. Bottom line : "Don't feed in and you can’t be manipulated. “ I highly recommend this book to help one learn how.

  • Having worked both as a intern in my local sheriffs office / jail for 16 weeks working face to face with offenders, and now working at the State Prison as a POST certified peace officer, I can say that this book is a excellent resource.

It explains how offenders will try to manipulate you and take advantage of you if given the opportunity. The book clearly explains the tactics used by offenders and tell you how to avoid being manipulated. Book also describes in detail several instances of correctional workers being manipulated and how it ruined their careers, some infractions leading to criminal charges and/or loosing their job.

I would recommend this book to anyone working in, or thinking or working in, the corrections field. It is a excellent resource.
