The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross (1970) is a book by the British archaeologist John Marco Allegro. Terence Mckenna in Food of the Gods says that a more likely candidate for Soma, due to its better efficacy at inducing psychedelic states, is the Psilocybe cubensis mushroom. His early career focused on studying the earliest manuscripts of the Bible, the Dead Sea Scrolls. With this book, however, many say that it ruined his career, although others say it gave him the fame that he deserved. This mushroom can grow in cow dung in certain climates, which may explain why the cow has gained such a sacred status in the Hindu tradition.

  • this is nice for giving a detailed history of the law fighting the magical mushrooms. i already knew before reading this book, that humanity's development evolutionarily and spiritually is suppressed by babylon law and design, but this book really does give the definitive physical examples of that theory in action. 1985 is already here and the walking dead are already amongst us. true human interaction is scarce. definitely a bit depressing to see how firm the zombies' viewpoint against "drugs" like psychedelic ones is.

  • This book is a must have for anyone who eats or grows mystical fungus. So much helpful info. Buy the legal defense guide as well!!’

  • What a Mind-expanding book with amazing historical data. Great book for those who are fan's of Terrence McKenna's literary works on consciousness expansion, the laws, and how we share very primitive history with substances and the pursuit of religious and personal ecstasy

  • Excellent read. I wish there was more on sovereignty, and natural birthrights. Also I feel that spiritual and natural law should have been included, although it does slightly hint it.
