Gleaned from an ancient oral tradition, these imaginative, colorful, and wisdom-filled stories will delight children and adults alike.

A collection of folk tales from one of the last ancient civilizations to be explored by the West.
  • Good stuff, well organized, expertly written, deliciously translated. I can't recall the last time I was so utterly captivated by yet another myths/legends/folktales chrestomathy--and I do hold _quite_ the library of cultural anthropology and medieval literature.

  • Gift for a friend to a friend.

  • Often Folk Tales are transplanted by people from another culture, thereby diminishing the clarity and quality of the original tales and their
meaningful messages. This book is exceptional, with the author's carefully care taking native tales of Tibet and transposing them into English,
with remarkable results. The feeling is they journeyed through the Tibet landscape and truly LISTENED to the storytellers. Allowing the Tibetans
to 'speak' through their stories gives these tales an enduring, engaging quality. This book was a gift. I highly recommend it to anyone
interested in Tibet, Buddhism, Folk Tales or well told stories.
I'm often skeptical when a book receives a lot of 5 star reviews, yet this one TRULY deserves it.
