The modern double wing offense is the pinnacle of power and misdirection football. The double wing offense is an offense that features two tight-ends, two wing backs, one fullback, and a QB in the backfield. This offense utilizes zero line splits. This will allow the offensive line to execute double team and down blocks on the defense very easily. Utilizing zero line splits also reduce the distance the pulling linemen have to run when they are lead blocking or kicking out a defender. The double wing offense is a power offense that really gets numbers (blockers) to the point of attack. This offense also has a very good play-action passing game

Among coaches, single-wing football denotes a formation using a long snap from center as well as a deceptive scheme that evolved from Glenn "Pop" Warner's offensive style. Traditionally, the single-wing was an offensive formation that featured a core of four backs including a tailback, a fullback, a quarterback (blocking back), and a wingback. The formation was first introduced by Glenn "Pop" Warner around 1912. Just a few offenses that use the formation are the double wing, flexbone and wing T offenses.

The modern double wing offense is the pinnacle of power and misdirection football. This book covers how to implement it, coach it, and utilize it with a variety of youth football teams. The system as been field tested for over ten years by not only the author but from coaches around the country who sing its praise. The system is simple, efficient, and effective while teaching the core fundamentals of football. The author has taken Don Markham's, inventor of the modern double wing, core principles and made them effective for any age group in youth football. See what some well known double wing coaches are saying about this book: "Every youth coach needs to read this book, whether you run Double Wing or not this is a must read in understanding the most dynamic offense in Youth Football. With the depth and teaching of the system it will become obvious why so many people are winning with the Jack Gregory DW. There is no doubt in my mind that Jack Gregory's Double Wing is the best design for Youth Football." Jason Mensing; Head Football Coach, Tecumseh High School, MI "Jack Gregory has done an unbelievable job once again spreading his knowledge and experience on the double wing. In running this offense for 10 years and speaking across the country, there is few people I have met who have a grasp on the offense like Jack. It is only equaled by his clear and concise way of articulating and teaching the offense to players and coaches of all levels. This book is a must read for any coach interested in or running the double wing." Tim Murphy Head Football Coach, Clovis East High School Clovis, CA "Youth Double Wing by Jack Gregory is a must read for any new or experienced football coach, from youth all the way up to high school. It's detailed, creative and easy to understand. I based my offense on Jack's DW system three years ago and it helped catapult me to the 2007 Pop Warner National Championships." Tony Akers 2007 National Championship Finalist Santa Margarita Pop Warner "What an awesome opportunity for youth football coaches seeking to learn the core aspects of one of the foremost power offenses in the game. To be able to sit at the feet of one of youth football's most respected coach advisors and be systematically lead through the principles, philosophy and concepts that makes this offense the force that it is known to be is truly a privilege. Following Jack's teachings and principles has enabled my DW teams to make it to the National Pop Warner Super bowl games two of the last three years, and even win the National Championship (2006). As such, I am very pleased to recommend this book as it's just like the offense that it teaches: Well structured, yet Systematic and Powerful!" Christopher Austin Los Alamitos Pop Warner 2006 Pop Warner National Champion I've looked at a lot of youth football coaching materials over the years. You will not find a more complete, "out of the box" system anywhere. Coach Gregory's system has proven successful for teams with players as young as 5 years through the High School level. There is one thing that teams who run Gregory's system have in common - they WIN football games!!! I have run Jack's system since 2003 and have enjoyed tremendous success. This isn't just a book of X's & O's. Coach Gregory goes into great detail in explaining not just what to do, but there is great focus on the hows, whens, and whys. I promise that this book will not just make your team better, it will make you a better coach as well. In my opinion, there's not a better system out there. If there were, I'd be using it! • Coach Gregory has developed a complete system to help coach youth football. The Double Wing is a solid offense and has helped me to reach the local youth playoffs every year as a head coach of a youth football team. Please note that this is not a stand-alone book and you will more than likely want to buy additional reference materiel that he offers to youth coaches. As an aside, the beauty of this offensive system is that you start with a single basic play and build your offense from there based upon the abilities of your team. Highly recommend this book to new youth football coaches.

  • This is plain and simply THE must have manual for any youth coach interested in running the double wing. As mentioned in other reviews, there are plenty of typo's, but it doesn't detract from the quality of the material. Coach Gregory is one of the best youth football coaches in the country, and has done an amazing job laying out a comprehensive, detailed, easy to understand manual for an extremely effective youth offense. There's just nothing more to say - if you run the DW at the youth level, and you don't own this book, you're not doing everything you can to be an effective coach.

  • Very informative and helpful with the addition of the DVD set. These step by step instructions helped me to successfully transition to this offense without little difficutly!! Great product!!

  • Coach Gregory has provided a great system for youth coaches. It is very easy for the children to understand, and difficult for to defend. We are currently installing this system with 7-9 year olds with a coaching staff working together for the first time.

The terms are not too technical, but some might require a little refresher. I would still recommend this book to first time coaches with little to no coaching/football experience.

There are a couple of grammatical, typographical and "cut and paste" type errors. They do not distract from the useability of the text.

I highly recommend not only the book, but the DVD video series.

  • If anyone in the youth leagues is interested in a succesful offensive scheme, this is 'that' book you need. It's filled with coachable concepts and play patterns that coach Gregory goes at length to explain in laymens terms. If you are that coach who is looking for a contrarian approach to running an offense that will put points on the board and control the tempo of the game, this book is for you. It's a great book to have in your arsenal.

  • If your thinking of running the Double Wing at the youth level then this book is ALL you will need to put together a great run for the Championship! This book and the 5 DVD package from Championship Productions are the base for my progam. Jack Gregory does a great job!

  • My son is using the plays in this book for the youth football team my grandson plays on and says the kids on catching onto them very easily.

  • Coach Gregory has done a wonderful job with this book. I have coached youth football for a couple of seasons and we have run both a pro set and an I formation and were looking for something that could take advantage of more misdirection types of movement. I was a novice to the Double Wing offense and this book did an excellent job of breaking it down and explaining the offense.

Like one of the other reviewers, I thought there were too many typographical errors - which at times might make you read a passage a couple of extra times to be certain what was said. But I gave the book 5 stars and the typos don't keep you from learning.

I would also recommend Coach Gregory's videos. They may not be available on Amazon but are available from his website. I was equally impressed with the videos and I thought they were a great help as well.
