  • Actually, since this book was published in the early 80', you won't find pictures of Hingus, Becker, Martin nor Chang. What's good about it is hundreds of pictures showing the forms of hitting the balls, and eventhough I mistakenly got a book in German, (this is my second in English), I gave the German book to my grandson to study the pictures and to try to copy the forms in his mind--he hates to read. For this reason, the book is still relevant and also if you like McEnroe, Connors, Borg, Evert and even Bueno and Roche, from times gone by.

  • Great hand book of tennis. It is what it states it is a reference to every possible stroke in tennis. Any persons confused by tennis terminal; your problem is solved.

  • This is a very complete book on tennis. Not a book to learn from, though, because it has so much information. If you already play well and would like to know the game's history as well as other techniques (and look at lots of pictures of past great players), this is the perfect book.

  • This book was the best out of about a half-dozen books in which i carefully reviewed a test chapter, on tennis serving.

Subsequently i read the entire book, which is voluminous.

The book's not perfect. There are occasional areas of ambiguity and repetition, which the publisher Alfred Knopf company did not catch. But it was still the best of a random sampling of such books. Knopf should re-print it.

  • This book is awesome, it should be in every tennis players library
