A birthday party for a famous Pug ends in a suspicious death. The latest job for the catering business run by sisters Libby and Bernie is a birthday bash for Trudy, a Pug who was the inspiration for a line of stuffed animals that has made Annabel and Richard Colbert wealthy. The invited guests are at each other’s throats, the wealthy couple far from connubial bliss.

When sisters Bernie and Libby Simmons cater a canine birthday celebration for Trudy the Pug, who is the mascot for the Colbert toy company, the big day is marred by murder when Trudy's pugnacious owner is poisoned, forcing Bernie and Libby to sniff out a killer among a lot of suspects--all of whom had a bone to pick with the deceased.
  • This book was a good length with a plot that was rather satisfying. I won't bore you with a plot summary as I know other reviewers are fond of doing that. The characters just get better and better all the time. I will say, however, that some of the recipes are not my cup of tea in terms of combinations of flavors. I appreciate that this book has chapter demarcations. Chapter demarcations make it so much easier to see how close you are to the end of a chapter or find a stopping place when you need to do so. This book has a tad of misdirection in the plot which not a great deal of cozy mysteries have and even then the misdirection doesn't always make sense, but in this case it did. I didn't really find anything really wrong with this book to talk about except maybe a bit of punctuation that looked odd, but nothing that interrupted the flow of the book. If you liked the previous books in the series, I say you should give this one a shot because I don't think you'll be disappointed. Have at it! I can't wait to read the next one.

  • This is the best book so far. I'm reading them in order which is what I do when a series is interesting. One thing is confusing, I thought the lady at the historical museum that Sean liked was named Jeanie. Anybody know what I missed ? Some reviews are right. Several of these books have odd little glitches, still they are good stories and I like the characters, so they are worth reading.

  • Good plot and characters!

  • Having read her earlier books in this series, (except the first) I wasn't sure I wanted to continue to suffer through her feuding sisters and grouchy father. She has improved in the characterization, so that they are not so obnoxious. In fact, I have almost grown fond of them. She took way too long to get to the point in this one, but it was the best by far. I hope she writes more in the series, and that they are available on Kindle.

  • have been reading the "A Catered" series - the move pretty well just get a bit tired of the sister's arguing - love both sisters

  • Good Book kept my interest and the twists and turns were truly exciting.

  • I always look forward to the newest book in this series. In this one it is not hard to figure "who done it" within the first few chapters. There were a lot of characters to keep track of but the clues were obvious. Funny ending though.

  • I enjoyed this book very much. The characters brought into the story were a little zany and not exactly the norm which made this book a great cozy mystery.
