  • Charlotte, a maid, gets too close to her clients. When the husband of one such household is killed and the wife is suspected, Charlotte tries to find the killer to clear her friend. She hides some information from the police after finding clues while cleaning. While I like how she tries to find the killer, her decit does get annoying at times.

  • Maid for Murder (Charlotte LaRue Mystery Series, Book 1)

Started this new to me series as a reading challenge in one of my groups. I'm really delighted with this book. This is one cozy mystery you can really sink your teeth into. Charlotte is way too close to my age, though that does make it even more interesting to me. We definitely share the same humour. This book is very well written. The main characters are very likeable and for me, loads of fun. I'll definitely finish this series.

  • An ok story. Very obvious solution but the main character is likable enough. I may check into the next in the series

  • For one thing, I can't get very interested in a character who is a maid. She owns a house cleaning business but she seems to do most of the house cleaning herself. Descriptions of housecleaning are not very interesting. This was a good story with a lot of twists and even after the guilty parties were discovered the book continued in an interesting way. The main character, Charlotte, however, is just plain annoying. Even though her niece is a police officer, she spends a lot of time rationalizing why she should not tell her things that she has discovered that will help solve the case. She decides what she should tell the police and what she should keep from them. I assume it is so that she can do something incredibly stupid and get right in the middle of things she should have left to the police. Apparently she thinks that because she works for a family that they are best friends and that she should go out of her way to do anything they ask and usually she doesn't wait to be asked. Also that she should shield this family from the police. And, of course, Ms Colley HAD to throw in the cop as a possible romantic interest even though Charlotte is nearly 60. The scenes between the cop and Charlotte are - yep - annoying.
I read this book which is first in the series and I have no desire to read any others.

  • What's to say? It's a murder in "Nawlins"!! Nothing more fun!!

  • This was a gift for my daughter-in-law. She enjoyed the read. I can barely wait to see her list next time. Will it be books????

  • I am enjoying this book so far. It is light reading and it is entertaining. Nice for reading before bed.

  • Book in really great condition...no issues at all. I enjoy this author and the characters so very much...hope she continues with this series
