Producing "spin-off" anthologies as part of a popular series has a long and venerable history in science fiction, of course. But, in at least two respects, this anthology is different from most such-and the two differences are related.

Next book . Ring of Fire. 1977) A novel by Bernard Gavin. Used availability for Bernard Gavin's Ring of Fire. June 1977 : UK Hardback.

The Ring of Fire (also known as the Rim of Fire or the Circum-Pacific belt) is a major area in the basin of the Pacific Ocean where many earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur. In a large 40,000 km (25,000 mi) horseshoe shape, it is associated with a nearly continuous series of oceanic trenches, volcanic arcs, and volcanic belts and plate movements. It has 452 volcanoes (more than 75% of the world's active and dormant volcanoes).

All I pretend to do in this book is to impart the ideas which are most likely to be lacking in the conventional Englishman's equipment.

I offer it to those enthusiastic admirers of Wagner who are unable to follow his ideas, and do not in the least understand the dilemma of Wotan, though they are filled with indignation at the irreverence of the Philistines who frankly avow that they find the remarks of the god too often tedious and nonsensical. All I pretend to do in this book is to impart the ideas which are most likely to be lacking in the conventional Englishman's equipment.

It is the second anthology in the 1632 series following after Ring of Fire (2004).
