Ringing in Murder (A Special Pennyfoot Hotel Myst). Decked with Folly" is the latest holiday book in Kate Kingsbury's delightful cozy mystery series set at the Pennyfoot - an annual Christmas gift to her fans

Ringing in Murder (A Special Pennyfoot Hotel Myst). Decked with Folly" is the latest holiday book in Kate Kingsbury's delightful cozy mystery series set at the Pennyfoot - an annual Christmas gift to her fans. The setting is a familiar one for her fans and the mystery is a bit lightweight - the constable all too conveniently disappears so Cecily can solve the crime herself and it is pretty easy to figure out who the killer - but Kingsbury fans will want to read this book (and the other books in the series) not for the mystery but to revisit.

Ringing in Murder (A Special Pennyfoot Hotel Myst). For several years now, Kate Kingsbury fans have been lucky enough to have a Pennyfoot Hotel mystery to read for the holidays and "Herald of Death" carries on that tradition. The first page sets the tone for the rest of the book - it gets off to a nice cozy start until the shock of the third paragraph - it is a wonderful way to start the book. What I love about the Pennyfoot Hotel series is the characters, starting with Cecily who just can't help getting involved with mysteries (why she gets involved in this one is a nice touch by Kingsbury). Like Cecily, I love Christmas and part of my holiday ritual is reading the latest Christmas Pennyfoot Hotel mystery. Shrouds of Holly (A Special Pennyfoot Hotel Mystery). Mistletoe and Mayhem" is a delightful addition to that holiday tradition. Visiting them feels like visiting old friends.

Christmas at the Pennyfoot Hotel means one thing - murder Читать весь отзыв. Christmas is always a special time at the Pennyfoot Hotel, but this Christmas promises to be extra special as Cecily Sinclair Baxter is busily preparing for the wedding of her friend Madeline Pengrath.

Chubb stood in the middle of the kitchen, arms folded and a fierce scowl on her face. Are you telling me, she said, that Madam hired you as a maid to work here throughout Christmas? kly nodded. Have you done any maid’s work before?. Alice stared up at her. I don’t know, she said at last. Feeling sorry for the girl, Gertie spoke up. How could she know that? she demanded. She ain’t got no bloody memory, remember?. Mrs. Chubb pinched her lips together

A Merry Murder (A Special Pennyfoot Hotel Mystery) - Historical Novel Society.

Book a room at the Pennyfoot Hotel this holiday season for a charming mystery that “combines the feel of an Agatha Christie whodunit with a taste of Upstairs Downstairs”(Cozy Library).A merry hustle and bustle heralds the holidays at the Pennyfoot—and this year is doubly busy. Even as Cecily Sinclair Baxter prepares for the holidays, she’s also helping her friend Madeline plan her impending wedding. This year, Cecily has a cracking holiday surprise for her guests—gorgeous Christmas crackers handmade for the Pennyfoot. And once the crackers pop, one lucky guest will discover a beautiful pearl brooch.   But things soon turn less than jolly. A mysterious fire breaks out in an upstairs room, killing the mood—and two guests. And at the bottom of it all: a missing Christmas cracker. Who would deliver such a murderous gift? • When shopping at Amazon for mysteries, I have noticed a lot of Kate Kingsbury books but have never ordered one. Thus I decided to order "Ringing in Murder" to see what her novels were like. I also ordered this novel because in general I tend to enjoy mysteries set in England and also those that take in the holiday seasons. However, it took me a while to get into this book as it really did not hold my interest. Unfortunately I figured out who "did it" fairly early in the novel. I also did not find the characters particularly memorable, and in fact, some seemed boring and contrived. I also did not particularly like the time period in which the novel was set which was in the earlier 1900s. Overuse of the word "bloody" and some other cliche-like language just really put me off the novel as well. Although I did finish it, I would not buy another.

  • Wonderful characters that are so much fun to follow in each new book. Lots of interesting 1900's English history on living conditions, dress, and moral codes. Sort of a fun, comedic Upstairs, Downstairs. Sure wish there were a few illustrations. However, Cecily's husband, Baxter is morphing into a stuffy bore; him I could do without. Ignore him and enjoy everything else.

  • I enjoyed this book it had several stories. You get to know staff. Romance weaved in with murder
at the hotel. Keeps you interested. Love the book series characters seem so real.

  • Love the time Era. Would recommend reading for anyone that likes early 1900'stages England.

  • A great weekend book by Kate Kingsbury, I enjoyed it, Looking forward to the last few.

  • Good series

  • Always enjoy Pennyfoot mysteries

  • This is not a review of the story but of the text with print so small I could not read this edition. These special Christmastide tales are lots of fun so I am asking my public library to find a copy with larger print.
