The former Untouchable teams up with a rookie cop, a headline-hungry reporter, and a beautiful woman in order to catch a crazed killer whose butchery has Cleveland in terror
  • This, the second book in the Eliot Ness series, tells of another time in the life of the great G-man. An unsolved mystery in the history of Cleveland Ohio is taken apart and fictionally solved the way Collins does in his Nate Heller series, only in this book it is the detective work of Ness that prevails. I found this book a little slow to get into, but then the I found the book hard to put down, even late at night as I had to fight sleep to keep going as long as I could because I just had to know what happens next. A solid Max Allan Collins mystery.

  • "Dark City" was lacking in a sizzle I usually associate with the Heller series. "Butcher's Dozen" has the sizzle. The steps taken to end the career of a killer of people we call homeless today kept my attention. Half way through the book I realized that the major difference between the Heller and Ness books lies in the absence of humor or sarcasm in Ness and the unbridled irreverence of Heller, who, as a fictional character, isn't burdened by any factual limits on his personality.

  • A continuation of the Eliot Ness Books and interesting. Not as good as the first but still good reading.

  • It was a easy book to read and had the ability to keep you guessing
