  • I've listened to this many times. My husband and I both think the gentleman is too hard to understand: we understand the lady more easily. It helps a lot to follow along in the book, as we can hear the vocal sounds better. We think it would be better if they also said the same thing in a slower speed, so we can hear the sounds/tones more easily. Fast and slowly.

  • This is an excellent phrasebook, and I preferred it to Lonely Planet's Thai phrasebook overall. Thai for Travelers keeps it simple, uses font sizes that are easy to read (especially beneficial if you want to read the Thai characters), and the book's generous spacing and simple formatting left plenty of room to write in additional specific words and phrases I wanted to remember (especially for food/special requests at restaurants). Since Thai is a tonal language, proper pronunciation is incredibly important--this phrasebook comes with an audio CD to help in that regard. I loaded onto my iPod for easy reference during my travels, and found it very helpful.

  • There aren't many grammatical descriptions or vocabulary practice, but there are very useful phrases for getting around and asking for things. Travelers will find that most Thai people speak at least a little English, but they appreciate people who try to speak Thai. There is a phrase for every situation a traveler might encounter and the audio is slow and understandable.

  • Great learning tool for Thai beginners. I recommend all of her books to learn Thai.

  • I have no idea if I like it or not because my only reason for ordering this was for the phrase book, but my daughter only received the CD, which she doesn't even want. And I've spent the past 20 minutes trying to figure out how to contact someone at Amazon to please send the phrase book, but I can't find a way to do it. Very frustrating, and I'm about to give up and just have my daughter return it. Update: finally reached a customer service rep via "chat", and the response was immediate and book is on its way! So am changing my initial 1 star to a 3 star...but is no reflection on the actual book since I haven't seen.

  • According to the advertisement I was suppose to receive a booklet. I received only the CD audio. The CD cover also refers to the book which was to be included in this order. It is very difficult to learn a language without seeing the word/words. This has been a waste of time and money!

  • It was very good. It helped me a lot.

  • I liked the tape but it would have been even better with a printed version of what was said on the tape.
