Michelin Germany Austria Benelux Czech Republic Map 719 (Maps/Country (Michelin)).

Michelin Germany Austria Benelux Czech Republic Map 719 (Maps/Country (Michelin)). I would rate accuracy of this one, as perfect. as usual for Michelin. I used this map for two trips to entirely different parts of Germany (the Rhine/Mosel and Bavaria) and was often frustrated in trying to find the highway or route number for example. The numeral is always very small and along a 300 mile highway, the route number is not shown often enough.

  • There was nothing wrong with the map itself unless you are in a car trying to navigate while your spouse is driving. Trying to unfold that size document, locate the next section necessary, and then fold it down to a reasonable size in a compact rental car filled with kids, suitcases, etc is awkward. Yes we could have rented a car with GPS (the map was tons cheaper for the number of days we stayed over there). The only other drawback to the map is unlike US maps the numbers correlating to the Autobahns(the really major highways) do not stand out. They are there, but they are not BOLD. To be fair, this same drawback was true of maps published and sold in Germany about 25 years ago (which was the last time we were there). I would recommend really studying your routes prior to your trip and/or getting a map that is made in more of a booklet/atlas form. We drove primarily in southern Germany and parts of Austria and survived.

  • We spent 6 weeks driving all over 10 countries in Europe and this map was really wonderful! Yes, we used a navigation system but the map was extremely helpful for the big picture view while we were there. Sometimes we had to make changes in the plan and a map like this really helps. Great delivery!

  • We brought with us a gps, but having a map to orient yourself is truly priceless.
The only drawback is it claims to detail the major cities and it really doesnt do a very good job of that, but for the major roads and for orientation purposes, it was spot on!!!

  • Good map but it's mostly in German! Easy enough to read once you get the hang of it. The paper is also very durable.

  • I haven't taken it to Germany yet. We go in June but it looks like it has a lot of roads and directions and detailed info. 100% better than Rick Steves map I also ordered.

  • I usually buy Michelin maps before traveling in Europe, primarily since it's typically the only brand that is recently published, and hence, up to date. I would rate accuracy of this one, as perfect ... as usual for Michelin.

I used this map for two trips to entirely different parts of Germany (the Rhine/Mosel and Bavaria) and was often frustrated in trying to find the highway or route number for example. The numeral is always very small and along a 300 mile highway, the route number is not shown often enough. So, I find the highway I want and then need to look along it for quite a way on the map to figure out the route number.

Even with reading glasses, in good light, I often found it too difficult to decipher the name of a road, for example.

And in rural areas, there is simply too much information; every dirt road is shown, making for a very busy area. So it's difficult to find the road I want.

The Province of Ontario, Canada is HUGE compared to all of Germany and yet, the map (of another publisher) is no larger. Even so, it's so much easier to figure out what the route number is for a highway ... or to find a road in a non-urban area ... or to decipher the name of a road without a magnifying glass.

I really think it's time for Michelin to re-think their approach to maps.

  • As always, Michelin maps are clear and easy to read. We used it on a bus trip to track our route. One or two very minor things are out-of-date by now, but don't let that stop you from buying this map. For driving on your own it may be that a single country map is better, but for the Benelux general area, the map was very helpful.
