The Unofficial Guides series is the only one that offers evaluations based on reader surveys and critiques. We went to Disneyland Paris the last week of June, and I bought this book to help plan our trip.

The Unofficial Guides series is the only one that offers evaluations based on reader surveys and critiques. We visit WDW yearly, and I still refer to a slightly older copy of the Unofficial Guide to WDW to help plan our trips. I also borrow the latest from the library to see if there are any big changes. The Paris version of the guidebook was very useful in selecting a hotel, but it was lacking some basic information.

  • I have purchased several editions of this book over the past 7 years. I cannot recommend this book enough to anyone who is looking for the best experience possible at Disneyland, especially if you have smaller children. Our family is comprised of all native Californians who have gone to Disneyland for the past 40+ years. This book is a game changer! You will learn how to save hours of time in your day and make the most of your trip. It is easy to make mistakes at Disneyland that can ruin your very expensive trip. This book will help you eliminate those mistakes. We often are so efficient in our planning that we have time to leave the parks early to rest up for the next day.

The bonus section on Universal Studios is also beyond helpful if you're planning a trip there.

  • Awesome! Totally worth the purchase! I'm the type of person that plans my Disney trip to the "T" to get the most out of my time & money. But of course, children don't always have the same plans in mind so I had to be flexible & this book made it easy to do both. I took a family of 6 kids ranging from an infant to a 12 year old. We went to Disney in early June and feared the worst since Summer can be crazy busy there. We followed this book and to my surprise, had an awesome experience! I love that the book includes various options for park planning (1 day, 2 day, 3 day, etc). We even managed to go on my 4 year olds favorite ride (Splash Mountain) about 4 times IN A ROW before anyone else got in line!!! I love the added insights on places to eat, must-see shows, etc. My more timid riders who spent a lot of time NOT on rides, enjoyed looking for hidden Mickeys throughout the park. I love the book so much that I vow to buy one each time I go if there is a new edition (that includes Disney World). Looking forward to my next Disneyland adventure!

  • I thought I could flip through this book and read a few things here and there. I changed my mind. Im reading it cover to cover as Im learning so much fun Disney history and fun activities to do for ALL ages. Our son is getting married at the Disneyland Hotel and family is flying in for this as well as going to the park. We have babies through grandmas as well as the very able bodied school aged children and their parents going to the parks. I love this book so much helping know what to expect with lodging, meals , transportation, fun for all ages that after I bought my copy, I bought 3 more and mailed them directly to other family coming to the wedding. I did not discover this book on my own. Our daughter in law had used a book by this author for their family trip to Disneyworld and so bought this one after the wedding destination was announced. She suggested we get the book. We are in our 60s and our trip will be different than theirs. I'm more excited for what I'm going to do at the resort after reading this book.

  • We have used The Unofficial Guides for years and consider them one of the best sources of information for Disney (Land and World). We go to one or the other every couple of years and always start the planning with The Unofficial Guide. because things change so much between trips. We find them very reliable and informative.

  • Wow wow wow wowwwww. What an excellent Disneyland companion and post-vacation-blues hangover cure!! I've been an annual passholder since 2011, so compared to the average Jill, I know all the ins-and-outs of the park. This book taught me so much, and it was such an entertaining read that I read it almost like I'd read a good mystery -- it was that exciting. All of the descriptions and attention to detail put in this book gave me the kind of endorphin rush I'd almost get as if I was actually there. DEFINITELY recommend for someone experiencing that post-vacation-blues (paired with some YouTube ride-throughs).

  • Several friends recommended older versions of this book, but I was going to pass on it since I'd been to DL a few times in my life. I bought it anyway and I am forever grateful. The difference between frustration and joy at DisneyLand can be a fine line when traveling with kids, and this book kept us firmly on the joy side the whole way.

The descriptions of how each ride might be received by various age kids was great. Having a reasonable idea of what rides my 8 and 11 year olds would like before getting there saved us lots of time, and you cannot spend too much time in lines for rides you wont like at DisneyLand and enjoy the day. Lines can vary from 5 min to over an hour throughout the day, and optimizing your trip (while it sounds mechanical) makes it much more fun. The MouseWait iPhone app was also priceless in this regard, often more accurate than Disney's own line length estimates(!)

If for no other reason, the tips on getting selected for Jedi Academy was worth the price alone. Extra bonus for the Universal Studios section which again saved us lots of time even though our first attempt at Universal was turned back by a power outage at the park.

Is this the best guide? It didn't tell us where to find a gallon of milk, but that's about it as far as we were concerned. It was well worth it for us.

  • I will never go to Disneyland without this guide again! Packed with practical advice delivered with a sense of humor. We follow the touring plans and get to do everything we want to do. The difference it makes in the enjoyment of a trip to Disneyland is huge. Hoping it remains a well-kept secret.

  • I went for a girls trip, no kids or hubby, one day in Disneyland (Friday) and one (Saturday) in California Adventure. We followed the majority of plan for Adults with no children, for each park on both days or used it as a guideline. We went on all of our favorite rides twice! We saw every show and parade. We literally had 2 perfect days. The parks were packed by the afternoon, but we had fastpasses to use by then! The author gives great tips all the way through the book and outlines different scenerios. My friend that has two little children recommended it to me, because it worked so well for her family. I highly recommend to anyone going To Disneyland, spend the $10 on this book! Well worth it!
