Tennessee Waterfalls, by Gregory Plumb. Along with these you are going to need some good maps. The DeLorme Atlas' for North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, & West Virginia will help you find your way down those mountain backroads and I've found the Trails Illustrated maps by National Geographic quite reliable once on the trail.

  • Really great guide book. Cant wait to visit Tennessee using this book to find these awesome waterfalls!

  • Could have used better directions to get to the falls. Once you were in the local area, then directions were fine. Loved all the falls that the book showed.

  • Very helpful and informative!

  • What a great guide book! My family and I have used it to locate water falls in the Smoky Moutians. The directions are easy to follow the descriptions of the falls well written and accurate.

  • The author describes the waterfalls and the hike to them well. However, he doesn't give any landmarks so that you can find them. For instance Twin Falls, it's on the highland rim somewhere. Many of the authors now give gps coordinates or at least better directions so you have a better idea where to start looking. Take a look at Melissa Watson's books to see what I mean.

  • tried to find a couple waterfalls but the directions were not correct. had to get directions from local businesses.

  • Great book!

  • Upon reading this book and having traveled to most of the waterfalls mentioned, I find this book to be of inaccuracy and misleading information. One would only know why if you are a native of TN, which I am. Burgess Falls is a waterfall to which you can only get to it by boat. The boat tours stopped decades ago. There is a great walking path and a steel, iron staircase to get to the bottom of the falls. Fall Creek Falls was said to be only accessible by auto. This is not the truth. You have to walk to the overlook or you can hike to the base of the falls. The hike is not the easiest, but it is well worth the effort- for the experienced hiker. The last falls that I will mention is, Stillhouse Falls. This falls is a great, calming walk to a beautiful falls. You do not have to bushwhack any sort of weeds, etc. I applaud Mr. Plumb on writing this book, but this edition is still stuck in the past. I am not please with how the staples are concealing the state of TN on the map in the begining of the book. You can not see the Cumberland Plateau due to the binding of the book. The black and white photos of this book are not very pleasant to look at. The photos are blurry. Please continue your search for a different and updated version.
