Stained Glass Primer. Stained glass assembly. Once the glass pieces for the project have been cut and ground or grozed to their final shape, it's time to assemble the window. There are two main methods of stained glass construction: lead came and copper foil. Lead came is the older and more traditional technique. It involves cutting pre-formed lead channels, called "came" to hold the glass pieces comprising the window, then laying out the entire window with the glass inserted into the came and soldering the cames together, sealing the glass inside.
