Marie Ponsot is an excellent translator of these wonderful tales by Fontaine. For me, she is one of the best translators of Fontaine. The charm, humor, magic are all there and brought to life through this excellent translation.
Jean de la Fontaine's fables were very well-known all over Europe during his life, and are now slowly being rediscovered. Walter Thornbury's translation furthermore sets the fables into memorable rhymes.
