Perfect Victim" tells the bizarre story of a young woman kidnapped while hitchhiking from Oregon to her home in California in 1977. Colleen Stan is sadistically kept prisoner for most of 7 years. She is forced to spend many nights in a small box; a "dungeon" would be too generous a description. She is raped, tortured and just plain denigrated by her captors, Cameron and Jan Hooker. In the process she becomes their virtual slave. Apparently "brainwashed", she ignores opportunities to escape.

The teenage nurse was the only one of the serial killer’s victims known to have escaped with her life. Urdiales was convicted of three murders in the states of Indiana and Illinois and sentenced to death. The death penalty was later abolished in Indiana and those on death row were sentenced to life without parole. She said she still carries emotional and psychological scars from the attack and often thinks about the eight women who were murdered by Urdiales. But she has also tried to move forward with her life. Jennifer, now 43, works part time, has a 20-year-old daughter, and is in the process of writing a book.

The Leatherstocking Tales is a series of five novels by American writer James Fenimore Cooper, set in the eighteenth century era of development in the primarily former Iroquois areas in central New York. Each novel features Natty Bumppo, a frontiersman known to European-American settlers as "Leatherstocking", "The Pathfinder", and "the trapper".

The Story of a Masterpiece. A Most Extraordinary Case. Crawford’s Consistency. James himself was a figure of complexity and ambiguity and secrecy; a number of matters in his life seemed greatly unresolved. His personality, like his later prose style, was one in which things could not be easily named, in which nuance was more substantial than fact and the flickering of consciousness more interesting than knowledge.
