Probably Herlihy's best book and maybe a shame that it was so eclipsed by Midnight Cowboy, also a great book - and, for once, made into a great movie. Witch/Gloria is a beautiful honest human being

  • Probably Herlihy's best book and maybe a shame that it was so eclipsed by Midnight Cowboy, also a great book - and, for once, made into a great movie. Witch/Gloria is a beautiful honest human being. Anyone can aspire to be as clean and loving and open as she is. She lives in our hearts as we read and re-read and recall this book. Thank you James Leo Herlihy. Love and good wishes to you in your new life!

  • It was just as I expected. The description was very honest.

  • I are so THERE with Gloria on her runaway trip that it's hard to remember that I've never been to New York, never passed out black armbands in Central Park, and never tripped on acid. I could've SWORN I was there with her.......

  • Something about this book drew me to it 17 years ago. It took me a little while to read it but finally I did. It turned out to be the best book i've ever read. Love It!

  • A+

  • AFTER HAVING SCOURED THE LOCAL BOOK HAUNTS FOR THIS TITLE, I WENT TO AMAZON. THE BOOK PURCHASE ARRIVED INTACT AND IN A TIMELY MANNER. THE ITEM DESCRIPTION WAS ACCURATE, CONSIDERING THE AGE OF THE BOOK. THE PAGES WERE NOT VERY WORN AND THE COVER WAS QUITE PRESENTABLE. THERE WERE NO PRINT SMUDGES AND THE BINDING WAS IN FINE SHAPE. ALL IN ALL A SATISFACTORY PURCHASE.

  • The book smells like cigarettes. The cover at the binding is yellowed from cigarette smoke. Have used Febreeze on it trying to get rid of the smell...

  • I first read this in the 70's. For some strange reason, it was on my parents bookshelf. I was only interested because of the drugs. Reads like bad parody. Every 60's cliche' imaginable. If MST3K did books, this would be on the list. Oh, & there's incest. This hippie chick wants to screw her biological father. People giving this drivel 5 stars should be fed LSD unknowingly.
