Four Came Home: The Gripping Story of the Survivors of Jimmy Doolittle's Two Lost Crews by Carroll V. Glines . Glines (1996-03-02). He's pretty much the man from Doolittle Raid headquarters.

by. Glines, Carroll . 1920-. Books for People with Print Disabilities. Internet Archive Books.

Landing on Japanese-occupied territory in China, two drowned and the rest were captured one by one. For the Americans, capture meant solitary imprisonment, starvation, torture, and for some death.

This is Colonel Glines' follow-up to his Doolittle's Tokyo Raiders (1964 p. 399) and it is about four times better because it focuses on four men rather than the 16 crews who made the raid

This is Colonel Glines' follow-up to his Doolittle's Tokyo Raiders (1964 p. 399) and it is about four times better because it focuses on four men rather than the 16 crews who made the raid. Originally, six officers and two crewmen were captured on the Chinese coast by the Japanese in 1942.

  • In 1942, Imperial Japanese forces were running wild in the Pacific. In April, 1942, a mere four months after Pearl Harbor was attacked, Jimmy Doolittle led a daring raid on Japanese cities by flying off an aircraft carrier, the USS Hornet, 200 miles farther from Japan than originally planned, a virtual suicide mission, with the fate of 80 men hanging in the balance. FOUR CAME HOME zeroes in on the fate of two crews that crashed in Japanese occupied China. The fate of one POW is one of the most unusual and inspiring stories of WWII. I highly recommend this book.

  • This is the story about the five surviving Doolittle Raiders captured by the Japanese in April 1942 and the torture they endured during 40 months of captivity. It's the most inspiring story I've ever read, and readers will be awestruck by what happens when these men are released after the war. I'd highly recommend reading this book, as well as Doolittle Raiders, which is also written by Col. Carroll V. Glines, the official historian of the Doolittle Raiders.
