Elvebakk & Prestrud (Ed. 1996): A catalogue of Svalbard plants, fungi, algae and cyanobacteria. Published as Skrifter 198 by the Norwegian Polar Institute, Oslo. Official catalogue of Svalbards vegeatation.
Elvebakk & Prestrud (Ed. This little but for the beginner very useful book contains brief descriptions and colour fotographs of the most important higher plants of Svalbard’s flora.

Cyanobacteria /saɪˌænoʊbækˈtɪəriə/, also known as Cyanophyta, are a phylum consisting of free-living bacteria and the endosymbiotic plastids, a sister group to Gloeomargarita, that are present in some eukaryotes. They commonly obtain their energy through oxygenic photosynthesis. The oxygen gas in the atmosphere of earth is produced by cyanobacteria of this phylum, either as free-living bacteria or as the endosymbiotic plastids.
The initial colonisation of cyanobacteria stabilising soil (Elster 2002), leading to a cyanobacterial crust, is considered a. .In: Elvebakk A, Prestrud P (eds) A catalogue of Svalbard plants, fungi, algae, and cyanobacteria. Norsk Polarinstitutt Skrifter, Oslo, pp 271–359.
The initial colonisation of cyanobacteria stabilising soil (Elster 2002), leading to a cyanobacterial crust, is considered a pioneering stage of BSC development (Turicchia et al. 2005; Yoshitake et al. 2010), which is shown in BSCs worldwide.
PDF All taxa of higher basidiomycetes known to occur on Svalbard are ennumerated. In this report we summarize species occurrences of vascular plants, bryophytes, lichens, and fungi, in addition to vegetation in the three national parks.

Skrifter om Svalbard og Ishavet 62. 155 pp. Swab, . Norsk Polarinstitutts Skrifter 198: 9–55. 22. Magnoliophyta: Alismatidae, Arecidae, Commelinidae (in part), and Zingiberidae: 255–267.
Altogether, we recorded 38 vascular plant species from 14 families, 13 lichen species from seven families, six algae taxa including both chlorophytes and cyanobacteria, and one fungal genus from the station and surrounding area. We discuss this floristic diversity in the context of the ecology of the nearby San Rafael Swell and the desert areas of Wayne and Emery counties in southeastern Utah.
The natural carbonate rocks investigated were endolithically colonized by lichens, cyanobacteria, algae and fungi.
The data gathered together here will be useful for the study of biological colonization in cultural heritage buildings, and should provide a basis for laboratory experiments on stone colonization, allowing for the selection of single species or mixed communities of micro-organisms and/or stone substrata for ecological studies. The natural carbonate rocks investigated were endolithically colonized by lichens, cyanobacteria, algae and fungi.
A number of cyanobacteria and eukaryote algae, particularly macroalgae . Table 1. Summary of in vitro antibiotic activity reported for cyanobacteria and algae towards various bacteria and fungi.
A number of cyanobacteria and eukaryote algae, particularly macroalgae, produce various, biologically active compounds. These include antibiotics which in laboratory tests inhibited bacteria and fungi that incite diseases of humans. Lyngbya majuscula (C)b. There is a modest charge for cultures.
The International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants is the set of rules and recommendations that govern the scientific naming of all organisms traditionally treated as algae, fungi, or plants, whether fossil or non-fossil, including blue-green algae (Cyanobacteria), chytrids, oomycetes, slime moulds, and photosynthetic protists with their taxonomically related non-photosynthetic groups (but excluding Microsporidia).
