The Consumer Movement book. Describes the growing movement for consumer protection and stresses. Haskins launched his college teaching career in 1970 and continued lecturing on psychology, folklore, children's and young adult literature, and urban education at schools in New York and Indiana before landing a full-time professorship in the English department at the University of Florida at Gainesville in 1977.

James Haskins (September 19, 1941 – July 6, 2005) was a prolific and award-winning author with more than one hundred books for both adults and children. Many of his books highlight the achievements of African Americans and cover the history and culture of Africa and the African-American experience. His work also included many biographical subjects, ranging from Hank Aaron to Scatman Crothers and Malcolm X. Most of his writings were for young people.

The consumer movement. For those still unaware of false advertising claims, unsafe cars and high food prices, Haskins provides the usual YA combination of horror stories and happy endings (the latter provided by corrective legislation which ""at least"" sets some minimum standards).
