White Man's Justice Mass Market Paperback. Dopefiend Mass Market Paperback. While Goines' work is extreme in making its points about the racial "un"justice system, it does give great insight into the struggles many incarcerated men (and women) face as they try to survive in a harsh and dangerous environment.

White Mans Justice Black Mans Grief. You can tell that Goines had experience with the system. My only complaint about the book is that there are a number of times where it v Fiction A-Z Book 'G': White Man's Justice, Black Man's Grief by Donald Goines. I chose this one because Goines was one of the most asked-for authors when I worked at Media Play in Southfield, and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

Book Overview The realism of this book is on point. Again Donald Goines brings it and tells it like it is. This story is revealing and is all too familiar to brothers behind bars.

Goines' classic novel of prison life and one of the most revealing books ever written about a life banged up against the system. Much of the story is based in the author's personal experiences and it positively bristles with hate. The realism of this book is on point. Donald Goines hits you HARD, baby. Gritty, edgy, realistic! White man'S justice, black man's grief. I. THE SUN WAS SHINING through the bars on the window as Prince, tall, slim, and black, got up from his bed and paced back and forth in his cell. He stopped in front of the small calendar he kept on the wall and smiled. It had been a long time, but he had managed to keep his sanity. Suddenly the sound he had been waiting for reached him loud and clear.

  • Donald Goines has been one of my all-time favorite "hard-boiled, underbelly of society" writers since I discovered "Eldorado Red" in a used bookstore in New Orleans. Each book is better than the last - his writing stings like a nest of hornets and can contain the saddest, most heart-crushing passages you've ever read. Mr. Goines wrote from experience; not some suburban ivory tower. I wish so that he had been given the recognition he so richly deserved in life, and the immortality he deserves in death. Purchase his books, read them, and allow him his shot at becoming the household nameof which he so dearly worthy. Great books, all.

  • The life inside of the prison system is disturbing and unfair. It is a dog eat dog world out there and one that seems to be in favor of the white male. It is a world that is set up as survival of the fittest and if you can't be stronger and smarter than the man on side of you, you probably won't make it. The injustices stem from cover to cover and they aren't in favor of main character Chester Hines.

  • Donald Goines reveals the truth without hesitation. It's weird how this book was written in the 1970's. Then I'm reminded of the setting when he mentions shows such as "Flip Wilson". I say that because things haven't changed and it's 2009.

If anyone is dumb-founded by the harsh reality of jail behind those 4 walls, then read this book. You'll find out how most men are quick to fall in the traps of homosexuality when they're only facing a short term in jail.

The book is suppose to reveal more about how a black man suffers under the white man's government. Yet, I feel that he got lost into the plot leading to Chester's (main character) "big" lesson.

Very informative piece of work. I'd like to emulate his brutal honesty within my future writings.

  • Purchase for my son. He loved Donald Goines.

  • This man is a brilliant writer. Brutal, grimey, descriptive and extremely well written! Donald Goines NEVER disappoints

  • Written in gritty language through the eyes of the main character, White Man's Justice, Black Man's Grief is testament to the racial undertones present in the American justice system. While Goines' work is extreme in making its points about the racial "un"justice system, it does give great insight into the struggles many incarcerated men (and women) face as they try to survive in a harsh and dangerous environment.

  • Like this author

  • Another great read, Goines is one of the best authors from his era.

Whoreson and Dopefiend are better but this is another great book

Your find that things have not changed much, the system is still broken
