I LOVE Byrd Baylor books I figured if she had TWO copies, it must be good.

I LOVE Byrd Baylor books. Didn't have kids, so I don't have grandkids, but these days, I'm giving these to my contemporaries - Elders like me. :) The art work is gorgeous and Ms. Baylor's poems are stunningly simple and, for me, uplifting. I figured if she had TWO copies, it must be good. I particularly loved "The Way to Start a Day", which I also bought for a friend. The books are great for adults and children alike.

  • What do you do when YOU can't sleep? The child sent to bed in this book lies awake listening and imagining... The child's night is filled with "lions and turtles and sheep" not to mention a humorous herd of buffalo. Each short poem describes a sound and an imaginary animal that might be responsible for it. Of course, it could turn out to be nothing but a flapping windowshade, but in this child's world there is nothing so ordinary. An excellent beginner's poetry book that captures poetic rhythm without making a chore of it. The word pictures will delight children of all ages and the poems beg to be read aloud. Don't miss this one!

  • Wonderful book! Item arrived on time. Just as described.
